Healing PTSD
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) develops when the body and nervous system have experienced something too overwhelming, too fast, or too much to process at the time it occurred. The memory of that experience becomes imprinted in the body — as sensations, emotions, or patterns of reactivity — long after the event has passed.
PTSD isn’t just a story about what happened in the past; it’s a lived experience in the present moment. It can keep the nervous system locked in cycles of fear, vigilance, or collapse — making it hard to feel safe, grounded, or connected to life.
PTSD can show up in the body and mind as:
Hypervigilance or a sense of being “on edge”
Intrusive memories or flashbacks
Difficulty sleeping or relaxing
Emotional numbness or disconnection
Startle responses or feeling unsafe in the body
Chronic tension or pain
Avoidance of reminders of the trauma
Difficulty trusting or feeling close to others
Through Somatic Experiencing®, we work gently with the body’s natural rhythm of regulation to release stored survival energy and restore a sense of safety. This approach allows your nervous system to complete what was once interrupted — helping you move out of survival mode and into presence.
As you reconnect with your body’s innate intelligence, you begin to experience more ease, clarity, and trust in life. Healing PTSD is not about reliving the story; it’s about teaching your body that it’s safe to live again.
Co-Regulating Touch & Reiki for Nervous System Repair
In addition to Somatic Experiencing®, I offer Co-Regulating Touch and Reiki, two powerful modalities that support nervous system healing in unique and complementary ways. Both help re-establish safety, soothe dysregulation, and build the body’s capacity to self-regulate — allowing trauma to integrate efficiently and effectively.
After trauma, the nervous system can become conditioned to stay “on” — alert, guarded, or braced for the next threat. Co-Regulating Touch and Reiki help your system remember how to “just be,” inviting deep rest, connection, and peace.
Co-Regulating Touch
Co-Regulating Touch offers safe, therapeutic contact that supports the body in remembering what it feels like to be calm in connection. Many survivors of trauma experience touch as unsafe or triggering; this work helps to gently rewire that pattern. Through attuned, compassionate presence, your system receives the experience of regulation — learning that safety can exist in relationship and within your own body. Over time, your body begins to reorganize toward ease, trust, and resilience.
Reiki
Reiki works with the subtle energy body to clear and harmonize energetic imprints left by trauma. It supports emotional release, calms the mind, and restores the natural flow of life force energy throughout your system. For those healing PTSD, Reiki can offer profound relaxation, emotional balance, and energetic renewal — helping your nervous system shift from hyperarousal to peaceful presence.
